· Dinner and Music at Water’s Edge

The Event.

This one of a kind event will take place along the beautiful Cherokee cabin pond. Guests will be able to enjoy a cocktail hour which will feature steam boat rides, drinks & light hors d’oeuvres followed by a three-course dinner prepared by local renowned Gregg Gregory (previous owner of the beloved Richmond seafood restaurant Spinnaker’s). During and after dinner, an unparalleled music show on the pond will take place featuring the award-winning soprano singing talents of Sarah Walston who has performed alongside the Richmond Symphony, Richmond Ballet and more.

The proceeds from this event will go towards our first ever Rassawek Autumn Festival which is scheduled for October 23 & 24, 2021. The Rassawek Autumn Festival be focused on highlighting the art of trade skills. The festival will encompass education and demonstration of American traditions and culture. Guests can observe on site trade skill demonstrations that include new and old equipment, blacksmithing, welding, masonry, carpentry, and many more. The proceeds from this event will give scholarships for students looking to attend a trade school.


Saturday June 5th – SOLD OUT

The Preview. 5:00 PM

During the first portion of the evening, guests will enjoy a cocktail hour alongside our Cherokee Cabin pond. Enjoy a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres and roam the area while listening to the instrumental tunes of violinist Ellen Riccio, pianist Charles Staples and harmonicist Gary Green. We will have our Victorian steamboats on the pond and guests will be able to enjoy a short romantic ride on the water. We will have a blacksmithing demonstration during cocktail hour where guests can observe the hand crafted talents of local blacksmith Roger Smith along side a bread making demonstration by local chef Andy Howell.

Hors D’oeuvres Menu:

  • Prosciutto from Italian butcher Filippo Gambassi with Terra Di Siena paired with Italian cheese and rustic bread
  • Fresh oysters on the half shell served raw with a mignonette sauce or grilled with butter garlic lemon and cheese
  • Seared mini crab cakes made with fresh lump crab meat

The Meal. 6:00 PM

After cocktail hour, guests will head to their reserved tables situated under the covered open-air pavilions along the beautiful Cherokee cabin pond. A three-course dinner prepared by Gregg Gregory will be served accompanied by fresh bread prepared in our brick pizza oven by Andy Howell and wine, beer or our signature cocktail drink.


First Course Options.

  • Fresh mixed greens salad with toasted walnuts, cherry tomatoes, and red onion tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette or
  • Creamy crab soup with lump crab meat

Second Course Options. 

  • N.Y.  Strip steak grilled to perfection and basted in a rich seasoned butter sauce or 
  • Grilled center cut lamb in a marinade inspired by the tastes of South Africa Serve with a spicy peri peri sauce on the side or
  • Fresh grilled Mahi Mahi topped with a sweet and savory pineapple jalapeno salsa
  • Vegetarian korma-sauté onion, potatoes, carrots, cashews, jalapeños, peas, bell peppers, ginger, and curry in a tomato cream sauce. Served over rice.

All entrees will be served with grilled asparagus and mushrooms with sautéed baby potatoes.

Third Course Options.

The Show. 7:30 PM

As guests are wrapped up their dinner an unparalleled music show on the pond will take place. Our entertainment features the award-winning soprano singing talents of Sarah Walston who has performed alongside the Richmond Symphony, Richmond Ballet and more. Sarah will be accompanied by pianist Charles Staples who has played for the Richmond Symphony, CCM Concert Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony and more. Joining Sarah and Charles is local violinist Ellen Riccio who has served as Principal Second Violin of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra since 2009. Together, these three will be performing a one hour concert on the water. The trio will be on a boat going back and forth across the pond while they sing classic Americana songs mixed with musical show tunes such as Shenandoah, Unchained Melody, Come Away with Me and more.

About Gregg

Gregg Gregory has a lifetime of service in the food and beverage industry. 2021 marks his 42nd year in the business. A graduate of The Florida State University Hospitality Management program, Gregg was highly recruited by hotels and restaurants throughout the United States. In 1986 he began his career  with Spinnaker’s Restaurant and in 2001 he purchased Spinnaker’s Richmond in which he was the CEO for nine years. In 2010, Gregg then founded Gregory’s Grill and began exclusively catering at private parties, multi-cultural festivals, and wineries. Catering offers the flexibility and freedom to personalize menus and services to meet his customer’s needs. Gregg has been a valued vendor at many of our Spring Jubilee’s at Rassawek. We are so excited to partner with him on this event as we know that the quality and taste of the cuisine will be unmatched.
