Rassawek is a charming and unique wedding venue in Columbia, Virginia. Located on the James River corridor about 45 minutes from Richmond and Charlotesville. Weddings at Rassawek are held outside, depending on the size of the gathering. Receptions are held under a tent, in the barn or around the cabins and greenhouse or under a blanket of stars. Since we are an outdoor venue we are not limited when it comes to the number of guests. We have many areas for ceremonies to be held, we leave it up to the bride and groom to decided where they want to say their vows and celebrate. We have enjoyed the creativity that each couple has brought to Rassawek.

Rassawek Wedding Package
Our wedding package includes exclusive use of the property for the weekend. The property includes two historical log cabins for you or your guests to use during the weekend, greenhouse, barn, ponds, vineyard and a treehouse. Custom items such as tents, tables and chairs are coordinated by our preferred vendors. Our preferred vendor list can  source items you may need. All vendors must be pre-screened which includes site visit.

FAQ’s

Can I use a vendor that is not on your preferred vendor list?
You are not required to use a preferred vendor, however, all vendors are required to carry liability insurance.

How long do I have access to the property?
For Saturday only packages, the property is exclusively yours for 2 hours Friday night for rehearsal and from 10:00am until 10:00pm Saturday. For entire weekend packages, the property is exclusively yours from Friday at 12:00pm until Sunday at 4:00pm. All items must be removed / picked up by 11:00am the day after the event, unless other arrangements are made prior to the wedding.

Do we need event insurance?
Yes, you will be required to obtain general liability insurance for the event. A certificate of liability can be purchased from www.wedsafe.com

Do you hold dates?
We do not hold dates. To secure a date, we require the initial deposit and contract to be signed.

How much is the deposit?
We require a 50% deposit at the signing of your contract. The remainder of the balance is due one month before your event. An additional $500 security deposit is due one month before the event. This deposit is refunded after a clear inspection of the property proceeding the event clean-up.

What are your alcohol requirements?
You may arrange to bring in wine, beer or liquor with your caterer. If you wish to do this you will need to secure a one-day ABC license. https://www.abc.virginia.gov/licenses/get-a-license/banquet-licenses

Do you have an in-house caterer?
We do not have an in-house caterer. You may choose one of the caterers from our preferred vendor list or use a caterer of your preference.
